The series of etchings entitled ‘Atlantic’ were all made following walks on the Isle of Lewis in the Scottish Outer Hebrides. I had previously been based on the island on my trip to St Kilda – I was aware I wanted to revisit Lewis and concentrate on a new body of work on this land and the ocean which surrounds it; where Europe meets the Atlantic Ocean. Every day on the island was a day walking, drawing and collecting the information required to make the 27 etchings in this series once I was back in the studio. ‘Ocean Part 1: Atlantic, Isle of Lewis 58.25° N 6.667 ° W’ is a boxed set of 14 etchings on paper with one unique etched zinc plate, presented in a solander box. Limited to an edition of five copies.
